My research has centered primarily around social contract theories of morality and politics as well as the nature and justification of property rights.

My current work-in-progress concerns two distinct topics: (i) the role of the question "What if everyone did that?" in good moral reasoning and (ii) a puzzle about how a social norm can give rise to moral rights and duties even though we would have been better off, from the point of view of morality, had we lived under a different norm instead. A tandem of two papers on the first topic and one paper on the second topic are available upon request.
