Albert Halliday

In this paper I argue that interest in light was, and is, an ongoing area of interest in the philosophy of visual perception. I then argue that 'light' is not a real entity, and that light rays are opaque. It should follow that the philosophy of direct perception of real objects is not sound.

This essay positions consciousness in the content field--also known as the visual field; it is an initial essay, providing a general overview of my thinking on this problem.

This short paper will argue that light waves are a barrier to visual knowledge of the objective world: that light is not transparent, in that it is a block on all possible knowledge of real objects, and that the objective world is permanently closed to the eye of the observer. (This is a shorter version of my original paper of this title.)
