The scientific community has debated the importance of “return” activities after ethnobiological studies. This issue has provoked debate because it touches on the ethics of research and the relationships with the people involved in these studies. This case study aimed to investigate community perception of an ethnobotany research project that was carried out in the semi-arid region of northeastern Brazil. Furthermore, we reported how the residents of this rural community felt about participating in the activities of “return” that arose from the projects. Our findings demonstrate that “return” activities should be planned from the design phase of the research until its closure as a lifelong process that allows the communities involved to gradually take ownership of the information and actions that are being generated. Similarly, we argue that such activities must be negotiated with the people of the community so that they have decision-making power and autonomy to decide what is most relevant to their lives

The interdisciplinary analysis of today's drug policy in Brazil, marked by its prohibitionist character, leads to the conclusion that it has frustrated the expectations of all of those who believed that the publication of law 11.343/06 would lead to a different treatment of drug users and traffickers. It is possible to observe some difficulties in the access to the medical use of substances that are considered illicit today, as well as the absence of legal, objective criteria to distinguish users from traffickers. The focus of penal prosecution is not directed toward the great traffickers of drugs, who are still profitting, in a context in which there is no reduction in consumption or commerce. The model of public security has been removed from the principles and guarantees present in the Federal Constitution by identifying black and poor people as potentially criminal. Therefore, starting from the premise that today's drug policy has been managed in irrational fashion and has violated human rights, we propose paths to overcome the problems we have identified.

Neste presente trabalho, mostraremos como a impossibilidade de trabalhar com a ideia de “desalienação” que promove a conscientização “sistemática” do que está escondido atrás das aparências enganosas, como pensou a Escola de Frankfurt, explicaria os fenômenos atuais que reconhecemos como razão cínica. Ao contrário da concepção de muitos críticos da ideologia, não lidamos mais com a lógica que anima o famoso comentário de Marx no Capital: “eles não o sabem mas o fazem”, mas com um tipo de lógica da socialização em que “os sujeitos sabem muito bem, mas o fazem assim mesmo”. Assim como a Teoria Crítica, Žižek também se empenha em uma análise do funcionamento das formas políticas totalitárias, mas por meio desse conceito, pois para o filósofo tais formas totalitárias são a expressão encarnada da servidão voluntária. Com a aliança entre psicanálise e tradição dialética, Žižek encontrou uma forma de fazer uma crítica tal estrutura de racionalidade que encontramos na contemporaneidade, isto é, uma crítica à razão cínica.

O objetivo deste ensaio é analisar a situação atual do desemprego estrutural que assola a existência dos indivíduos na forma de vida contemporânea, a partir de uma abordagem que compreende tal evento como uma “catástrofe pseudonatural”, em decorrência da violência constitutiva do poder sistêmico do capital, nas suas diversas formas. Podemos considerar que sob o jugo do capitalismo contemporâneo, o trabalho se realiza como experiência negativa para aqueles que trabalham. Com efeito, essa dinâmica imanente do mercado mundial capitalista transforma trabalhadores produtivos em trabalhadores descartáveis, subprodutos do sistema de mercadorias. Para tal análise, nos ancoramos nas reflexões de Žižek, quando este se ocupa de uma análise crítica sobre as principais implicações desse modelo de sociedade na subjetividade humana, na atual conjuntura histórica. A metodologia que trilhamos encontra amparo no que a literatura denominada de estudo teórico-bibliográfico, no qual elegemos como aporte teórico as obras descritas, a saber: “O Ano em que Sonhamos Perigosamente” e “Vivendo no Fim dos Tempos” e Primeiro tragédia despois como farsa como fontes principais de análise. Em suma podemos assegurar que no atual momento histórico o não trabalho é uma qualidade que sustenta o próprio sistema como tal, pois o que se revela é que este, além de necessitar de trabalhadores, produz um excedente, ou seja, um „exercito de reservas‟ garantido pela circulação do não trabalho, o que permite a Žižek caracterizar esse “novo” desemprego estrutural como forma de exploração, uma vez que somente no capitalismo a exploração aparece de forma naturalizada.
