I studied Dutch Language & Literature and Philosophy at the University of Groningen, and did my Ph.D. research at Utrecht University, under supervision of prof. Rosi Braidotti and prof. Lolle Nauta. Since 1997 I taught social and political philosophy at the universities of Maastricht and Groningen, specializing in philosophies and public discourses on multicultural society. Since 2009 I hold a chair in Citizenship and Diversity at the The Hague University of Applied Sciences.
