Rapid genome divergence at orthologous low molecular weight glutenin loci of the A and A m genomes of wheat
    with T. Wicker, N. Yahiaoui, R. Guyot, E. Schlagenhauf, Z. D. Liu, and J. Dubcovsky
To study genome evolution in wheat, we have sequenced and compared two large physical contigs of 285 and 142 kb covering orthologous low molecular weight glutenin loci on chromosome 1AS of a diploid wheat species and a tetraploid wheat species. Sequence conservation between the two species was restricted to small regions containing the orthologous LMW glutenin genes, whereas >90% of the compared sequences were not conserved. Dramatic sequence rearrangements occurred in the regions rich in repeti…Read more

Genetic mapping of 66 new microsatellite loci in bread wheat
    with P. K. Gupta, H. S. Balyan, K. J. Edwards, P. Isaac, V. Korzun, M. Röder, M. F. Gautier, P. Joudrier, A. R. Schlatter, J. Dubcovsky, R. C. De la Pena, M. Khairallah, G. Penner, M. J. Hayden, P. Sharp, R. C. C. Wang, J. P. Hardouin, Jack P., and Leroy P.
In hexaploid bread wheat, ten members of the IWMMN collaborated in extending the microsatellite genetic map. Among a much larger number of microsatellite primer pairs developed as a part of the WMC, 58 out of 176 primer pairs tested were found to be polymorphic between the parents of the ITMI mapping population W7984 x Opata 85. This population was used earlier for the construction of RFLP maps in bread wheat. Using the ITMIpop and a framework map prepared for this purpose, a total of 66 microsa…Read more
