Having now reached 65, a milestone once considered “retirement”, I consider myself a “lucky fellow” who has been able in recent times to engage in intense study to clarify issues that had arisen, first in my work as a university student (1969-1971) and then as a tutor and lecturer of sociology (1972, 1977-78, 1982-1998). Scholarship should be undertaken by scholars who self-critically devise theoretical perspectives that can assist people whoever they are, wherever they live, to contribute to our human calling in all social domains.
