By intellectual openness, one depicts openness to new possibilities. Karl Popper’s advocacy for openness of society, critical approach, democracy as a framework, piecemeal engineering, detest for blueprints are essential ingredients for ameliorating Africa’s predicaments. This paper maintains that Popper’s position, that openness is the foundation for new discoveries and further solutions, is a first aid treatment for Africa. This paper examines Popper’s ideas on intellectual openness and its relevance to Africa.
