My work is organized around making Bishop Butler (1692-1752) better known for the benefit of all. This net extends to all aspects of his life, his sources, his work, and his reception over the past 300 years. Philosophical reflections on his topics, such as personal identity, ethics, religion, politics, love (of God, the natural world, self, and others), philanthropy, probability, enthusiasm, insanity, critical reading, human nature, conscience, the passions, natural theology, and the credibility of an alleged revelation are always of interest and worth collecting whether they favor Butler, oppose him, or even fail to mention him.
