Hamid R. Tizhoosh is a professor in the faculty of engineering at the University of Waterloo, Canada. He teaches artificial intelligence and medical imaging. His intensive engagement with religion started during his adolescence in the mid-70s and intensified after the Iranian Revolution in 1979. He is an autodidact in philosophy and religious studies with self-taught knowledge of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, and different schools of Eastern spirituality.
