Javier Pérez Jara

Javier Pérez-Jara is a Faculty Fellow at Yale University's Center for Cultural Sociology and an Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Sociology at Beijing Foreign Studies University. After obtaining his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Seville, he conducted postdoctoral studies at the University of Cambridge’s Department of Sociology. Among his publications, he is co-editor of Overcoming the Nature Versus Nurture Debate: New and Old Perspectives on Human Multidimensionality (New York: Springer’s Synthese Library, forthcoming 2023), Contemporary Materialism: Its Ontology and Epistemology (Springer’s Synthese Library, 2022), co-author of Science and Apocalypse in Bertrand Russell. A Cultural Sociology (Lexington Books, 2022), and author of La Filosofía de Bertrand Russell (Oviedo 2014). He has held visiting teaching and research positions across the world, including Stanford University, Yale University, the University of Cambridge, Kyoto University, Sangyo University of Kyoto, the University of Seville, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Taiwanese Fu Jen Catholic University, and Minzu University of China.
