Jesse M. Mulder

I am assistant professor of theoretical philosophy at Utrecht University's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. I've studied philosophy at Utrecht, with a one-semester excursion to the University of Connecticut during my master's studies. I obtained my PhD at Utrecht as well, cum laude, under the supervision of Thomas Müller and Albert Visser in June 2014, with a dissertation entitled "Conceptual Realism. The Structure of Metaphysical Thought." After holding a postdoc position in the context of an ERC-funded interdisciplinary research project on responsible intelligent systems, I started as assistant professor at Utrecht. Between 2018 and 2022, I ran an individual research project, funded by the Dutch research funding agency NWO, entitled "Unifying Metaphysical Pluralism".
