I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of California, Santa Cruz. I work primarily in epistemology and the philosophy of psychology. I am also the founding Director of UCSC's Center for Public Philosophy.

I am currently at work on a book about motivated reasoning (rationalization, cognitive dissonance, confirmation bias, etc.) and the social practices that are informed by it.
