I am Distinguished Emeritus Professor in the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy, having retired from Baylor College of Medicine in July 2016 after 28 years on the faculty. Prior to Baylor I was on the medical and philosophy faculties at Georgetown University and its Kennedy Institute of Ethics (1979-1988). My first position was at the then-new medical school at Texas A&M University and in its philosophy department (1976-1979). After completing graduate studies in philosophy at the University of Texas at Austin (1975, December), I held a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at The Hastings Center (1975-1976).
