My research and teaching interests span the fifteenth and sixteenth century and lie in the European and Mediterranean intellectual history. I am committed to understanding the Renaissance as the result of interactions between different cultures and traditions across the Mediterranean.

In particular, I am currently focusing on the European perception of Islam and the Ottoman Empire, manuscript and book circulation across the Mediterranean, Arabic and Latin cosmographies, early-modern geography, and political and imperialist thought from a transregional perspective.
