    Spinoza against political Tacitism: reversing the meaning of Tacitus’ quotes

    ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to investigate the intertextual relationship between Spinoza and Tacitus in the Political Treatise, underlining how Spinoza uses Tacitus’ quotes against his main political enemy: Tacitism.
