My research interests span aesthetics, ethics, and the relationship between them. Currently, I am working towards developing a theory of beauty that will play a central role in a naturalistic theory of value modelled on the theories of British Enlightenment philosophers like Hutcheson, Hume, and Smith.
I am also developing my views on the relationship between character and personality, and examining naturalistic accounts of ethics and aesthetics.
My most recent side-project looks at serialised cinematic works featuring immoral characters, by way of examining how these enable ways of reflecting on important moral questions, and developing our understanding of character hitherto largely unavailable to other artistic media.
