I am a social philosopher who uses multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary methodologies to engage society's complex aesthetic, moral, religious, and social problems. My goal is amelioration. My areas of specialization include aesthetics, ethics, history of philosophy, philosophy of religion, and religious studies. I also have a background in hermeneutics, the history of ideas, Holocaust Studies, and systematic theology. My pedagogy is experimental, existentially rooted, and transgressive (following bell hooks). I am particularly concerned about the problem of evil, human suffering, and other social problems that are structural and systemic. Following insights from thinkers like John Dewey, I am also interested in discovering best practices for "restoring continuity between works of art and everyday life."
