Rineke Verbrugge is Full Professor at the University of Groningen's Department of Artificial Intelligence, combined with a so-called 'zero-appointment' at the Faculty of Philosophy. Since 2002, she has been the leader of the Multi-Agent Systems research group. Her work focuses on logics, multi-agent systems, and social cognition. She received an M.Sc. Since 2002, she has been the leader of the Multi-Agent Systems research group. Her work focuses on logics, multi-agent systems, and social cognition. She received an M.Sc. (cum laude) and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Amsterdam. Subsequently, she was a post-doc in Prague and Gothenburg, and Assistant Professor at MIT and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Rineke Verbrugge is chair of the Netherlands Organization for Logic and has chaired events such as the Twentieth European Summer School in Logic, Language and Information. She has written the book "Teamwork in Multi-Agent Systems: A Formal Approach" with Barbara Dunin-Keplicz (Wiley, 2010). Together with Jan van Eijck, she has been awarded four grants for their large international NIAS-project Games, Action and Social Software. From 2009 to 2014, Rineke Verbrugge has led the NWO Vici project "Cognitive Systems in Interaction: Logical and Computational Models of Higher-order Social Cognition", leading to more than 140 articles in international journals and conferences. Since 2016, she has been an elected member of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities.
