I earned my Ph.D. at University of Illinois at Chicago in 1989. Immediately thereafter, I worked at Florida International for three years before moving to my current position at Central Michigan University. I am currently working on a book on manipulation and the ethics of influence, which builds on and develops ideas from a couple of papers I have written on this topic. My other philosophical interests include moral philosophy (especially the limits of obligation), moral psychology (including personal autonomy and philosophical psychopathology), and the moral/political status of children.
