I'm a philosopher by training (Yale) and trade (Notre Dame). Most of my philosophical writing has centered on three overlapping areas: early modern philosophy (especially Spinoza and Leibniz), metaphysics, and philosophy of religion. I also serve as the co-director for the Center for Philosophy of Religion, and I am a principle investigator for several large research projects.

When not working or spending time with my wife and two daughters, I enjoy reading, cheering on the Mets (generally a dismal affair), listening to Bruce Springsteen, playing tennis, golf, rollerblading, and swinging kettlebells. Sadly, some of these activities are tough…
