Emeritus Professor of Science, Technology and Society, College of Social Sciences, School of Social and Environmental Sustainability -- ORCID 0000-0001-6156-9768

My research has focused on social, cultural and philosophical aspects of scientific knowledge, design and ethics from the 19th to 21st centuries, and how new kinds of practitioner and audience have evolved alongside new sciences and technologies. My nine books include histories of the diverse communities that created holography, nuclear engineering, colour measurement and technological faith.
