I am an Assistant Professor of Practice at the University of Arizona School of Information. Prior to that, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Santa Fe Institute, working on the “Foundations of Intelligence in Natural and Artificial Systems” project. My research seeks to understand how concepts from AI and machine learning can inform the philosophy of cognitive science and the philosophy of science more generally. As a research assistant, I’ve developed deep neural networks to solve problems in planetary science, studied metaethical reasoning in children, and explored the cognitive limits of rule learning.
