Based on social information processing theory, we provide a novel theoretical account of how and when leader humor influences subordinate boundary-spanning behavior. We develop a moderated mediation model explicating the mechanism of psychological safety and the boundary condition of subordinate interpersonal influence. Using multiwave data, we tested our research hypotheses with a sample of 452 members from 140 teams in a Chinese information technology company. Results showed that leader humor positively affects subordinate boundary-spanning behavior via increased psychological safety. Moreover, this mediated effect is stronger when subordinates have high interpersonal influence. These findings offer theoretical and practical insights into boundary-spanning activities and leader humor, which we discuss.

Aiming at the problems of poor adaptability and low secret key generation rate of secret key generation scheme based on single characteristic parameter of wireless channel, a secret key generation method based on joint characteristic parameters of amplitude and phase of wireless channel is proposed. This method is based on the single-eavesdropping wireless fading channel model; the joint characteristic model of amplitude and phase of wireless fading channel is established; it detects and extracts the joint characteristic parameters of amplitude and phase of channel, and then the proposed characteristics are quantified by using the equal probability joint quantization strategy of amplitude and phase to generate the secret key random parameters. In this paper, the amplitude and phase joint feature parameter detection method of wireless channel can not only improve the generation rate of random secret key parameters but also make the eavesdropping party’s eavesdropping error rate closer to 0.5. The test results show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the rate, reliability, and security of generating key random parameters.

In the 1990s, China created a research evaluation system based on publications indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and on the Journal Impact Factor. Such system helped the country become the largest contributor to the scientific literature and increased the position of Chinese universities in international rankings. Although the system had been criticized by many because of its adverse effects, the policy reform for research evaluation crawled until the breakout of the COVID-19 pandemic, which accidently accelerates the process of policy reform. This paper highlights the background and principles of this reform, provides evidence of its effects, and discusses the implications for global science.

In this article, the author uses a narrative-semiotic approach to discuss the Eight Revolutionary Model Plays of China's Cultural Revolution, which left profound but sometimes negative influences on the lives of Chinese people. Because of the political upheavals of the time, the Eight Revolutionary Model Plays dominated the cultural stage during this special period of Chinese history. However, they have become popular again in recent years — an interesting cultural phenomenon that deserves academic observation Phelan's three narrative voices (mimetic, thematic, and synthetic) are used for narrative analysis and it is determined that these model plays primarily use the thematic voice. Jakobson's semiotic theory of six factors within the speech event is used for semiotic analysis and the result is that each of the six factors has polyphonic features. The conclusion is that although the plays were originally made for political purposes, with time as well as people's appreciation and consumption they have become part of Chinese culture. In this sense, one can say that art, like language, is also a kind of convention.

Liu Shipei received an outstanding classical education and obtained the juren degree in 1902. After failing the metropolitan exam in the following year, however, he went to Shanghai where he became involved in revolutionary activities and wrote a number of political, ethical, and historical treatises, including the Textbook on Ethics. In his Textbook, Liu sets out a more systematic presentation of an ethical theory than any we find in earlier centuries. His goal is a complete reworking of Confucian ethics, and his methods and conclusions merit comparison to the similar objectives of Liang Qichao in the more popularized On the New People of three years earlier. Like Liang's "new ethics," Liu's ethical theory is shorn of much of the metaphysical apparatus that accompanied earlier neo-Confucian ethical teachings, and, like Liang, Liu is to some extent familiar with Western philosophical trends and concepts.
