"Schelling has undergone his philosophical education before the public" - so G. W. F. Hegel in criticism of the novel systematic projects which his philosophical ally and later rival F. W. J. Schelling successively made public. Today, however, Hegel's derisive judgment can be seen not to hold: Instead, it is much rather the case that Schelling's productivity expresses the genuine continuity of his thought. Moreover, his thought is attractive precisely because it embodies an inconclusive - perhaps the never-ending - search for an abiding philosophical orientation in an ever more complex world. The title both emphasizes the singularity of Schelling's thought and recognizes its profound relation to that of his contemporaries. This volume, which connects the latest work in Fichte-, Hegel- and Schelling-studies, contains original contributions in English and German on Schelling's philosophy from international group of researchers.

La grande idée que Hegel a présentée et développée dans la Phénoménologie de l’Esprit, est la découverte de la signification de la négativité. Celle-ci est alors plus qu’une procédure formelle. Qui plus est, la négativité est un concept qui marque la réalité même. D’une part, la négativité montre la réalité comme quelque chose de subjectif, car la négativité en tant que principe formule la position du réel en relation avec soi-même à travers un processus de négation. D’autre part, la négation montre une réalité tendue, douloureuse et éphémère. Hegel arrive à cette idée dans ses débats avec Fichte et Schelling avant tout. Malgré l’interrogation justifiée sur le fondement de la critique de Hegel, la force argumentative de ce concept est pourtant estimable: elle dépend de l’attention portée aux phénomènes concrets, à leurs différences spécifiques et à leur unité substantielle que cette attention rend abordables à une compréhension raisonnée.

The Berlin Studies in Knowledge Research (BSKR) series aims to foster systematic research into the variety of forms of knowledge as well as to uncover aspects of their underlying unity. The conception of the discipline of epistemology it seeks to promote is a generous-one which encompasses a study of the full variety of forms, practices and dynamics of knowledge, as well as their mutually interacting points of contact and their respective mechanisms of interpenetration. It seeks thereby to bring about a reorientation of the discipline of epistemology, undoing artificial restrictions in its scope and achieving a greater appreciation of the heterogeneity of different forms of knowledge. The series BSKR is associated with the Innovationszentrum Wissensforschung (IZW) / Center for Knowledge Research at the TU Berlin, Germany.

Der vorliegende Band intendiert die Herstellung von Unterrichtsmaterialien für Lehrer und Schüler, und zwar nicht aus einer fachspezifischen Perspektive, sondern als ein Projekt fachübergreifenden oder fächerübergreifenden Unterrichts. Wir lassen uns von der Vorstellung leiten, dass komplexe Probleme, die ihren Ursprung in einer ebenso komplexen Gesellschaft haben, sich nicht mehr allein durch Spezialwissen lösen lassen. Vielmehr erfordert die gegenwärtige Situation vernetztes Wissen und Menschen, die Kompetenzen erworben haben, um an einer dynamischen Wissensgesellschaft zu partizipieren. Im Hintergrund steht dabei auch die Vorstellung, dass die Anforderungen des Berufs- und Wirtschaftslebens zugleich ein lebenslanges Lernen erfordern. Es geht uns darum, alle paternalistischen oder moralistischen Implikationen zu vermeiden; vielmehr sollen Schüler in die Lage versetzt werden, eine eigenständige und damit nachhaltige Auffassung zu entwickeln. Um die Vielschichtigkeit und Komplexität der Bezüge eines jeden Faches und der Fächer untereinander abzubilden, werden die für die Dopingthematik besonders relevanten Fächer Sport, Biologie, Philosophie/Ethik, Religion und Sozialwissenschaften in einzelnen Modulen durch ausgewiesene Experten, die einen jeweils aktuellen fachdidaktischen und inhaltlichen Stand der Forschung garantieren, abgehandelt und didaktisch aufbereitet. Somit werden die Schwerpunkte Leistung und Kontrolle (Sport), biologische Manipulation (Biologie), ethische Urteilsfindung (Ethik/Bioethik), Selbst- und Weltbild (Religion), die gesellschaftliche sowie ökonomische Relevanz (Sozialwissenschaften) in ihrem transdisziplinären bzw. fächerübergreifenden Zusammenhang abgebildet und zugänglich gemacht. Jedes Modul enthält neben parallelen Themen (wie Gendoping) auch didaktische Hinweise und einige Anregungen für konkrete Anknüpfungspunkte zu den anderen Modulen. Durch diese fächerübergreifende Verständigung wird das didaktisch wesentliche Ziel erreicht, die Schüler zu einer reflektierten Bewertung der Dopingthematik zu befähigen und zu motivieren.

As early as Plato’s Sophist we find the claim that there are two basic forms of doing philosophy: realism and idealism. Taking this reaction to the sophist Protagoras as its point of departure, this article aims to trace the crucial and paradigmatic stages in the further development of this problem. Besides Protagoras and Plato this includes above all Schelling and Fichte, both of whom delved profoundly into the relation of realism and idealism. Fichte’s position is distinguished by a particularly high degree of reflection; for him the relation of realism and idealism takes on the function of justifying philosophy in its consummation. The article closes with a summary, not entirely resigned, arguing that the problem is still unsolved and undecided in the present.Bereits in Platons Sophistes findet sich die Feststellung, es gäbe zwei grundsätzliche Formen des Philosophierens: Realismus und Idealismus, eine Reaktion, und zwar auf den Sophisten Protagoras. Ausgehend von dieser Grundlegung des Problems zeichnet der Beitrag exemplarisch wichtige Stufen der Problementwicklung nach. Dazu zählen neben Protagoras und Platon vor allem Schelling und Fichte, die sich beide intensiv mit dem Verhältnis von Realismus und Idealismus auseinandergesetzt haben. Fichtes Position zeichnet sich dabei durch einen besonders hohen Grad an Reflexion aus. Das Verhältnis von Realismus und Idealismus gewinnt für ihn eine die Philosophie als Vollzug begründende Funktion. Am Schluss steht das nicht nur resignative Resümee.Tvrdnja da postoje dvije osnovne forme filozofiranja, realizam i idealizam, predstavlja reakciju – i to na sofista Protagoru – još u Platonovu Sofistu. Polazeći od tog postavljanja problema prilog prikazuje egzemplarno važne stupnjeve njegova razvitka. U z Protagoru i Platona tu spadaju ponajprije Fichte i Schelling, koji su se obojica intenzivno bavili problemom odnosa realizma i idealizma. Fichteova pozicija odlikuje se pritom osobito visokim stupnjem refleksije. Odnos realizma i idealizma postiže kod njega funkciju koja filozofiju zasniva kao izvršenje tog odnosa. Na kraju članka nalazi se zaključak, koji nije samo rezignirajući, da taj problem ni u sadašnjosti nije riješen i odlučen.
