The adversary therefore cannot know a future free act by grounding it; he can only infer it from the archive of what has already crossed, projecting patterns into what has not yet occurred. The essay argues that this is not a difference of degree but of kind. This essay examines the tension between divine providence and human responsibility through the figure of Pontius Pilate. Drawing on the classical distinction between primary and secondary causality, it further argues that God’s sustaining and governing of history does not supply the will behind Pilate’s decision. By placing current controversies within two millennia of ecclesial history, the essay contends that the Church's endurance rests not on institutional innovation but on the fidelity of priests who remain steadfast in the ministry entrusted to them by Christ.

This essay examines the Christological question raised by the Gospel accounts of Jesus walking upon the sea: when a single concrete act belongs to one divine Person possessing two complete natures, how should that act be understood? This paper examines whether a metaphysics of continuous divine grounding can be extended consistently to classical Trinitarian and Christological doctrine. If every human capacity is already grounded in God, proportionate repayment (retribuo) becomes structurally impossible.
