Alberto Luis López

I am Alberto (given name) Luis-López (last name) from Mexico City. I am a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI-Conahcyt) since 2017. I was a visiting lecturer in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Ottawa (2022-24), and before I was a visiting assistant professor at the University of Western Ontario, Canada (2020-21). Previously, I worked as an Assistant Professor (2010-20) at the FES-A, UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México). I've taught in Mexico and Canada undergrad and grad courses, among them Modern Philosophy I (17th century), Modern Philosophy II (18th), Modern Philosophy III (19th), Hermeneutics, Mexican philosophy, Medieval Topics, Introduction to Modern Philosophy, and a seminar on Berkeley's socio-political thought. I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Canada (2016). I got a Ph.D. with honors from UNAM, there I won the Alfonso Caso Medal (2015) and the Norman Sverdlin Prize (best PhD Dissertation, 2014). I got an M.A. in Philosophy from the Universitat de Barcelona, Spain (2008), and a B.A. in Philosophy from the Universidad de Salamanca, Spain (2006). I spent eight months in a research stay abroad at Trinity College Dublin (2012) with David Berman. I also studied German Studies for almost one year at Volkshochschule in Mainz, Germany (2000).
