I am Professor of Philosophy and Co-Director of the Cognitive Science Program at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Most of my publications are directly or indirectly related to some aspect of the nature of mind and agency. Currently, my research is focused on issues related to the ontological foundations of the philosophy of mind and agency, working out the implications of an ontology of causal powers for how we think about human agency, mental causation, and phenomenal consciousness. Currently, my research is focused on issues related to the ontological foundations of the philosophy of mind and agency, working out the implications of an ontology of causal powers for how we think about human agency, mental causation, and phenomenal consciousness. Finally, I have projects on moral cognition (focusing on reactive attitudes and blame judgments), the metaphysics of ethnicity (focusing on Latinx identity), and the place for powers and causal realism in a block universe.
