I am an assistant professor at Hunter College, CUNY. I finished a PhD in 2014 at the CUNY Graduate Center. I am originally from Cape Breton Island, and was an undergraduate at Simon Fraser University.
I write about philosophy of language and the history of analytic philosophy. I have particular interests in speech acts, the theory of communication, the semantics–pragmatics interface, the semantics of imperative clauses, the philosophy of action and practical rationality, the psychological underpinnings of language use and communication, the cognitive science of mindreading, Grice, and Austin.
