Davide Serpico

I am a philosopher of science - particularly passionate about biology, medicine, cognitive science, and social sciences - now working within the project "Normative Kinds". My research regards a range of epistemological questions, among which: the nature and nurture of complex phenotypes, such as human intelligence, mental disorders, and somatic diseases; the history and philosophy of genetics, particularly how early models have shaped the contemporary research landscape and agenda; epigenetic and canalization effects in human development; the role of epistemic and non-epistemic values in shaping methods, concepts, and categories in medicine. I am also interested in technological innovation and open knowledge.
