I am Professor of Philosophy at William & Mary. My research has centered on Hume's theory of the passions and action and on his moral theory. I am also interested in the implications of Hume's theory of motivation for contemporary ethics. I have further interests in practical reasoning, virtue ethics, early modern theories of the emotions, and the representational theory of emotion.
