I am a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow and Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Durham University. My project "FunMo - Functions at the molecular scale" investigates functionality at the molecular scale and how molecular functions can inform the border between life and non-life and biological and medical sciences. My main research explores the philosophy of biochemistry and the interface between chemistry and biology.
I am also a researcher in the ERC project AssemblingLife at the University of Oslo and an Honorary Fellow at the Department of Science & Technology at UCL.

Previously, I was a Teaching Fellow at the University of Birmingham (UK), teaching the MA modules in Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language and Epistemology.
I have a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Bristol with the thesis "Biochemical kinds and the Unity of Science", supervised by Tuomas Tahko and Samir Okasha and examined by Muhammad Ali Khalidi and James Ladyman.
Together with publications in world-class journals, I also write articles for non-academic audiences and I am involved in the organisation of events and conferences.
I have side projects that consider the ethical aspects of science, in particular focusing on virtue ethics and the debate on epistemic injustice.
