Hasse has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Edinburgh (2015). He researches early modern ethics, with special focus on the naturalism of the French philosophes, and the theories of humans as machines, together with ancient ethical naturalism (esp. Aristotelian tradition). He is also interested in computer science.
