Ambassador Dr. Sayed Fadlullah Fadel has extensive experience in diplomacy, international relations and academia. Dr. Fadel expertise in International relations in general, and Middle East & North Africa in particular, is the product of his years of experience as an Ambassador, Special Presidential Envoy and Political Advisor of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Middle East and North Africa for more than twenty-five years. In addition, he served as a senior political advisor to the Head of Afghanistan High Peace Council.
Through his diplomatic experience, Dr. Fadel developed a strong knowledge of international relations and inter-governmental mandates, political analysis and diplomacy, and has provided leadership, support and advice in the context of peacebuilding activities through mediation and negotiation, including post-conflict development and other politically sensitive areas.
As a Special Presidential Envoy to the Middle East, Dr. Fadel led and coordinated various aspects of Afghanistan policy and has maintained relationships with representatives of diplomats, United Nations organisations, and high-level state officials across the Middle East and North Africa region.
As a political analyst, Dr. Fadel has been a guest speaker at a variety of international and Arab media networks. In addition, he has been a media liaison officer, broadcaster and political editor at the Arab Republic of Egypt Radio Television.
As an academic and researcher, Dr. Fadel has lectured at the School of International and Political Studies at Deakin University, The Asia Institute at the University of Melbourne and the Victorian School of Languages .
Dr. Fadel has a strong record of communicating persuasively in a concise and clear manner to a variety of audiences, demonstrated by his involvement in various academic research and international conference papers throughout his diplomatic career and higher education studies in the fields of public policy, International community development, economic and political development, peacebuilding, International conflict analysis and resolution, global governance, democracy and contemporary Middle Eastern politics.
Dr. Fadel competencies in research and analysis have been further enhanced by his participation in extensive academic studies, including Doctor of Philosophy in Politics and Policy, a Master of International and Community Development, Graduate Diploma of International Relations from Deakin University and Islamic Law, and Civil Law from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt.
