Stephen Daniel works primarily on 17th and 18th century philosophy. He has written five books, authored more than sixty articles, and edited three volumes on modern philosophy and contemporary continental thought. His recent publications include George Berkeley and Early Modern Philosophy (Oxford UP 2021) and articles on Berkeley, G. W. Leibniz, John Toland, and Jonathan Edwards, and two edited collections of essays on Berkeley. He is past president of the International Berkeley Society, senior editor of Berkeley Studies, coordinator of the annual South Central Seminar in Early Modern Philosophy, and Texas A&M University Presidential Professor for Teaching Excellence. He is currently working on Berkeley's account of power and Descartes’ view of animals and immortality.
