Behavior, Adaptation, and Intentionality: Comments on Rychlak, Leahey, and JenkinsJournal of Mind and Behavior 14 (4): 373-384. 1993.Target articles are evaluated in light of the consideration of intentionality. It is argued that behaviorism lost its hegemony in psychology, not precisely because it eschewed investigation of mental phenomena, but rather because it failed to give an adequate account of adaptation.
