Αναμφίβολα, όσοι γνώρισαν προσωπικά και όχι μόνο μέσα από τα κείμενά του τον Ευθύμη Παπαδημητρίου, θα θυμούνται ότι ο ίδιος κατέφευγε συχνά σε αυτήν την έκφραση, όταν αναφερόταν σε κάτι αυτονόητο ή σε κάτι δύσκολο στην πραγμάτωση του και άρα δεν σχετίζεται άμεσα με τη συνήθη χρήση της ως έκφραση στην αγγλική γλώσσα. Επιπλέον, οι ίδιοι μάλλον θα συμφωνήσουν μαζί μου, ότι οι παρελθοντικοί χρόνοι που θα ακουστούν/θα χρησιμοποιηθούν σήμερα εδώ και θα τον αφορούν, θα δημιουργήσουν, μάλλον, αμηχανία, αφού, αν θέλουμε να είμαστε ακριβείς στην περιγραφή μας οφείλουμε να προκρίνουμε στις αναφορές μας για εκείνον, ως πιο ενδεδειγμένο χρόνο έναν Εξακολουθητικό Ενεστώτα, ο οποίος στην περίπτωση του Παπαδημητρίου μπορεί αβίαστα να συμπαρουσιάζεται με έναν Οραματικό Μέλλοντα…

Είναι ο έρωτας μία απόπειρα υπέρβασης της πρωταρχικής ρήξης ή μία απόπειρα υπέρβασης του Εγώ; Δηλαδή είναι μία ορμή επανασύνδεσης ή μία ορμή διάλυσης; Κεντρομόλος ή φυγόκεντρος; Κάθε προσπάθεια ορισμού μας παραπέμπει στο πρόβλημα ενός ερωτικού καθολικού, το οποίο δεν μπορεί να αναχθεί στην βιολογική γενετήσια ορμή, ούτε όμως μπορεί να διαχωριστεί από τις επιμέρους και συγκεκριμένες εξατομικεύεις του ερωτικού φαινομένου. Θέλουμε να αναζητήσουμε το νόημα του έρωτα στην σημασία του άλλου εντός της διυποκειμενικότητας και να κατανοήσουμε την αποβλεπτικότητα που στρέφεται προς το άλλο. Να αναψηλαφήσουμε τις κοινωνικο-ιστορικές και φιλοσοφικές μεταμορφώσεις του έρωτα και το συσχετισμό του με την αυτονομία. Να διαυγάσουμε το νόημα του χρόνου του Άλλου εντός και διά του υποκειμένου, που υπερβαίνει τον ατομικό χρόνο, μα δεν είναι δημόσιος, και θα ονομάσουμε ερωτικό χρόνο.

The political actions of Martin Heidegger raise a compelling question to those concerned with philosophy: How was one of the most important philosophers of the 20th century willing to ally himself with Nazism and what does this mean for philosophy? This question has been raised and brushed aside from the end of the Second World War, when Heidegger was formally accused for his involvement with Hitler's regime and forbidden to attain any official teaching position henceforth. Important thinkers, like his colleague and friend in the pre-war years, Karl Jaspers. testified then against him. But Heidegger's fame rose again above his indignity in the 1950s, when Hannah Arendt in the USA and Jean-Paul Sartre in France, among others, began once again to spread the word of his philosophy and translate his works. These problems have recently intensified after the posthumous publication of Heidegger's Black Notebooks (Schwarze Hefte) in 2014, containing his notes from 1931-1941. Their publication caused seismic tremors in the field of philosophy, with Heidegger's opponents considering themselves finally vindicated by his own pen, and his supporters trying to separate thinking from actual life. However, the influence of Heidegger's thought - as well as that of other representatives of German anti-humanist nationalistic conservatism, such as Oswald Spengler - continues to spread, not only in academic but also in broader social and political circles. In the face of this spreading influence, which is combined with the influence of some disciples such as Nick Land or Giorgio Agamben, a biographical-type confrontation is not enough. We should confront Heidegger directly at the core of his philosophy. We cannot afford to ignore him or bury him under superficial gossip. Instead, we should confront him philosophically. We might be able to clear the ground for such a confrontation, if we resort to the philosophical concepts of autonomy, temporality, and human freedom. In my opinion, the most important philosophical challenge to Heideggerian thought, in this context, has been expressed by Cornelius Castoriadis. In the following chapters, I will argue in favor of this position, outlining the Castoriadian philosophy of time in contrast to the Heideggerian and highlighting the main points of their opposition. The book is divided into two parts. Part one, "Castoriadis against Heidegger" deals with the basic concepts and arguments of both philosophers around human existence, the individual, society, and temporality. We start by presenting Heidegger's scandal in the social-historical context but also with the help of Hannah Arendt's last assessment of the thinker. We move on to outline the basic concepts and structures of Heidegger's philosophical thinking in parallel with Castoriadis' criticism as regards politics, ontology and technoscience. Part two, "Time and existence" first examines the relevant approaches of Lukacs and Ricoeur in comparison to Heidegger and Castoriadis, to elucidate the basic concept of temporality and then presents an outline of Castoriadis' insights on time and existence, before finally applying these concepts to contemporary social-historical phenomena that redefine and transform human existence and social temporalities, like space exploration, digital cyberspaces and online communications. //////// "This book is a tour de force that excites those who agree or disagree with the philosophy of Heidegger. IT CAN BE ARGUED that there is no objective measurement of the influence of an individual’s thought upon collective social movements, especially in the case of direct democratic social movements for human emancipation from authority. This is certainly the case with Murray Bookchin, a revolutionary thinker who renounced Marxism to re-imagine anarchism and renounced anarchism to form his own political proposition of communalism and democratic confederalism. While it is impossible to measure the influence of Bookchin’s thought and action on the current social-historical global timescape, it is also impossible to ignore it, visible as it is in the revolutionary democratic institution of Kurdish Rojava, and within contemporary ecological and social movements. When I embarked on an inquiry into the importance of Bookchin for Greek social movements, I understood that it was a task never to be completed. Τhe libertarian, anarchist editor Michalis Protopsaltis used to say, “It’s not the naked truth coming out of the well, it is just my opinion.”

To what degree can the philosophy of Cornelius Castoriadis help analyse and evaluate our current social reality in relation to the project of autonomy? How meaningful is his political proposition for direct democracy in the 21st century? This book presents basic concepts of Castoriadian philosophy, such as the social-historical plane, ontological creativity, and social and individual time, that provide the theoretical tools necessary to evaluate the historical phenomena of our era. By revealing the new significances of social freedom, global solidarity and movements of direct democracy, this book explores roads towards social autonomy and human freedom today.

Time was perceived by ancient philosophy as a cosmological enigma. The search for truth beyond time determined Greek thought. A true definition, says Aristotle (384-322 BC), expresses “the what-it-is-to-be” (τὸ τί ἦν εἶναι) of a thing, it is an account of the essence, and essence is identity. The principle of non-contradiction was considered by Aristotle as the first principle of the inquiry into Being. As such, it cannot be demonstrated, since this would lead to an infinite regress. Instead, the noncontradiction principle is the first axiom of ontology. But time seems to question this tautology. Aristotle discusses time in the Physics. He begins with the questions about time’s existence which stem from his contemporaries’ conceptions.

To what degree can the philosophy of Cornelius Castoriadis help analyze and evaluate our current social reality in relation to the project of autonomy? How meaningful is his political proposition for direct democracy in the 21st century? What significance do the concepts of social time and social space have in the determination of political freedom? Castoriadis and Autonomy in the 21st Century presents basic concepts of Castoriadian philosophy, including the social-historical plane, ontological creativity, and social and individual time that provide the theoretical tools to evaluate the historical phenomena of our era. Drawing from Greece's own turbulent past and the current global crisis to reveal new significances of social freedom, global solidarity and movements of direct democracy, this book explores social autonomy and human freedom today through critical dialogue with Castoriadis' ideas.

Ο σύγχρονος φιλοσοφικός στοχασμός δεν μπορεί να αποφύγει την αναμέτρηση με τη σκέψη του Μάρτιν Χάιντεγκερ και το πρόβλημα της στράτευσής του στον εθνικοσοσιαλισμό. Η στροφή του Κορνήλιου Καστοριάδη προς την ανθρώπινη ψυχή και την οντολογία του φαντασιακού, η κριτική του στην τεχνοεπιστήμη, η ενασχόλησή του με τη χρονικότητα και η ρήξη του με την παραδοσιακή λογική, τον φέρνουν σε πεδία όπου πέφτει βαριά η σκιά του Χάιντεγκερ. Εκεί, αλλά και στο βασικό ερώτημα του τι σημαίνει φιλοσοφείν, ο Καστοριάδης αντικρίζει τη χαϊντεγκεριανή άβυσσο εντοπίζοντας μια τυφλότητα μπροστά στην κοινωνική και πολιτική δραστηριότητα των ανθρώπων και στα θέματα της ψυχής, του έρωτα και της πόλεως. Αντιθέτως, αυτά τα σημεία, η ψυχή, ο έρωτας και η πόλις, είναι κεντρικά στον καστοριαδικό στοχασμό της ανθρώπινης χρονικότητας. Έτσι, ο Καστοριάδης αναδεικνύεται σε κύριο φιλοσοφικό αντίπαλο του Χάιντεγκερ και του αντι-διαφωτισμού.

What does the future hold? Is the desertification of the planet, driven by state and corporate authority, the final horizon of history? Is the dystopian future implied by the systemic degradation of nature and society inescapable? From marginal activist groups to governments and interstate organizations, all appear to be concerned with what the future of our shared world will look like. Yet even amid the ongoing global crisis caused by capitalism, the potential of a different, radically rooted future has also appeared. Common Futures explores the global emergence of twenty-first-century social movements, opposed to capitalism and state authority. These movements, Yavor Tarinski and Alexandros Schismenos show, transcend traditional political forms of organization and try to form autonomous networks premised on direct democracy and solidarity. The authors identify the importance of grassroots movements, which can bring radical change and create a more democratic and ecological future. Common Futures examines the social and political roots of the environmental crisis and the relationship between ecology and direct democracy. But Tarinski and Schismenos go beyond the analysis of crises, contemporary struggles, and social movements: Common Futures also clarifies the conditions for the re-creation of free public time and space and point to practical steps that we can take to alleviate the problems of our future.

Over the last decades, the proliferation of ICTs and capitalist markets has created a new social-historical reality for communication, production and societal organisation, while social inequality has deepened. In this context, alternative forms of organisation based on the commons have emerged, challenging the core values of capitalism. Within this new form of egalitarian and transnational collaborative networks, a new concept of social coexistence has been proposed: cosmolocalism. This article presents the genealogy of cosmolocalism and compares it to previous conceptual universalist reconfigurations, namely cosmopolitanism and internationalism. While the current discourse on cosmolocalism focuses on production and distribution, its political dynamics and limitations remain unexplored. Our ultimate goal is to open a path of inquiry for further reflection and deliberation.

Ποιο είναι το νόημα της απουσίας; Τι σημαίνει «αλλού και άλλοτε»; Ποιος είναι ο τρόπος ύπαρξης της απουσίας, του αλλού και άλλοτε, για εμάς τους παρόντες; Τι σημαίνει απουσία; Πώς μπορούμε να σκεφτούμε την απουσία; Πώς καθοδηγεί τους πόθους μας η απουσία; Η απουσία τυλίγει κάθε παρουσία όπως η σκοτεινή ύλη την ορατή ύλη. Οι σελίδες που ακολουθούν δεν περιέχουν κάποιες τελικές απαντήσεις αλλά μάλλον μία πορεία προσέγγισης τους ερωτήματος, μία πορεία πλάγια, μία απόπειρα πλαγιοκόπησης ενός θέματος που, κατά μέτωπον, διαφεύγει την προσοχή μας, μία απόπειρα συνάντησης του μη-όντος στις παρυφές του όντος.

My main point is that the creation of a free public time implies the creation of a democratic collective inspired by the project of social ecology. The first and second parts of this article focus on the modern social phenomena correlated to the general crisis and the emergence of the Internet Age (Castells, 2012). The third and fourth parts focus on new significations that seem to inspire modern social movements and the challenges that modern democratic ecological collectivities face. I use the term “social ecology” as defined by Murray Bookchin: “Social ecology is based on the conviction that nearly all of our present ecological problems originate in deep-seated social problems” (Bookchin, 2006, p. 19). And I use the term “democracy” exclusively in the original, true meaning, of direct democracy where society is self-governed by the equal participation of every individual to political decisions and functions, as opposed to a modern representative democracy or republic, where political decisions rest in the hands of an oligarchy. In this sense, a truly democratic political collectivity is a truly ecological collectivity and vice versa.

The concept of time-travel is a modern idea which combines the imaginary signification of rational domination, the imaginary signification of technological omnipotence, the imaginary concept of eternity and the imaginary desire for immortality. It is a synthesis of central conceptual schemata of techno-science, such as the linearity and homogeneity of time, the radical separation of subjectivity from the world, the radical separation of the individual from his/her social-historical environment. The emergence of this idea, its spread during the 20th century as a major theme of science fiction literature alongside its dissemination as a scientific hypothesis, its popularity with both the public and the scientific community, are indications of the religious role of techno-science. It is my opinion, finally, that, as a chimera, time-travel is non-feasible and impossible. In order to support my claims, I will briefly outline the origins of the time-travel concept and its epistemological and metaphysical/ontological conditions. If these conditions prove to be absurd, the logical impossibility of time-travel will have been demonstrated.

Οι θέσεις του Καστοριάδη αναφορικά με το ζήτημα της αυτονομίας, μέσα από τη πραγμάτευση των εννοιών της ψυχής και του ατόμου, αναδεικνύουν την άρρηκτη σύνδεση της οντολογίας και της φιλοσοφικής ανθρωπολογίας της δημιουργίας με το πολιτικό πρόταγμα της κοινωνικής απελευθέρωσης. Το μάγμα της ανθρώπινης ψυχής, όπου τα ορθολογικά στοιχεία διατηρούνται μόνο "σαν επιπλέοντα συντρίμμια ναυαγίου σε τρικυμιώδη θάλασσα", επιλέγεται ως αφετηρία, καθώς η ατομικότητα αποτελεί το πραγματικό πολιτικό διακύβευμα της εποχής του θρυμματισμού των ταυτοτήτων και του άγριου ατομικισμού. Ο Καστοριάδης υπενθυμίζει διαρκώς πως το πρόταγμα μιας αυτόνομης κοινωνίας προϋποθέτει αυτόνομα άτομα, κι αυτά με τη σειρά τους ένα νόημα της αυτονομίας, όπου η ελευθερία μπορεί να βρει την κοινωνική της πραγμάτωση, πέραν της μεταφυσικής και της θεολογίας.

ΤΙ ΣΗΜΑΙΝΕΙ «ΜΕΤΑ ΤΟΝ ΚΑΣΤΟΡΙΑΔΗ»; Μα ακριβώς αυτό που καταλαβαίνουμε εξαρχής. Τα χρόνια που ακολούθησαν τον θάνατο του μεγάλου φιλοσόφου ανέδειξαν τη σημασία της φιλοσοφικής και πολιτικής του σκέψης, έφεραν τα ερωτήματα που ο ίδιος είχε διατυπώσει στο επίκεντρο των κοινωνικών αγώνων, επιβεβαίωσαν την κριτική του στην καπιταλιστική (αν)ορθολογικότητα, έθεσαν το ζήτημα της Άμεσης Δημοκρατίας στην καρδιά της κοινωνίας. Ταυτόχρονα, νέες μορφές επικοινωνίας και συνταύτισης αναδύθηκαν, δριμύτατες κοινωνικές συγκρούσεις γκρέμισαν το κάτοπτρο της ασημαντότητας και καινούργιες πολιτικές αγωνίες προσπαθούν να βρουν λέξεις για να αρθρωθούν. Ο λόγος του Καστοριάδη μοιάζει πιο επίκαιρος από ποτέ, ενώ η γλαύκα της Ακαδημίας αρχίζει να λοξοκοιτά μυωπικά το έργο του με στόχο να το απολιθώσει. Όμως το έργο του Καστοριάδη δεν προσφέρεται για απολίθωση. Δεν είναι μία κλειστή θεωρία, είναι μια πρόσκληση σε πράξη, μια προτροπή σε αναστοχασμό, μία αξίωση αυτονομίας.

On March 9th, 1985, Paul Ricoeur and Cornelius Castoriadis met at the studio of the France Culture “Le Bon Plaisir” radio broadcaster. In 2016, the transcript of their dialogue, their only public debate, was published. This publication is significant not only because it highlights the points of convergence and divergence between the two prominent thinkers, but also because the issues they discuss: the relation between society and history, tradition and creativity, imagination and collective action, are relevant to the philosophical and political discourse of our time.

Ο Marcel Proust στον Ξανακερδισμένο Χρόνο μας δίνει μια έξοχη εικόνα του νεωτερικού ανεκπλήρωτου έρωτα: «Από αυτή τη στιγμή εκείνη έχει καταλάβει ότι, αν του προσφέρει μόνο τη συντροφιά ή τη φιλία της, αυτή η εύνοια θα φανεί τόσο σημαντική σε εκείνον που έχει πιστέψει ότι την έχει χάσει, ώστε αυτή μπορεί να αποφύγει να του παραχωρήσει κάτι περισσότερο και να επωφεληθεί από τη στιγμή που αυτός, μην μπορώντας πια να μην τη βλέπει, θα είναι πρόθυμος να τελειώσει με κάθε θυσία τον πόλεμο...» Ο εραστής εδώ παρουσιάζεται παγιδευμένος και όμηρος στον ιδιωτικό χρόνο της ερωμένης. Η ερωτική σχέση περιγράφεται σαν Πόλεμος και η απειλή της Στέρησης ισοδυναμεί με την περιφρόνηση της Θυσίας, αποτέλεσμα της οποίας δεν είναι η σωτηρία, αλλά η υποτέλεια. Η ερωμένη του νεωτερικού ανεκπλήρωτου έρωτα δεν είναι το απρόσιτο αντικείμενο του πνευματικού πόθου όπως η Δέσποινα του ιπποτικού μυθιστορήματος, ούτε το παιγνιώδες υποκείμενο του σωματικού πόθου. Είναι το ενεργό υποκείμενο της ψυχικής άρνησης. Ο εραστής δεν έχει να αντιμετωπίσει την ετερονομία των ψυχών, ούτε την ετερότητα των σωμάτων, αλλά την ανυπέρβλητη άρνηση μιας εχθρικής αυτονομίας. Ο δρόμος εκπλήρωσης του Έρωτα μπλοκάρεται από το ίδιο το αντικείμενο του πόθου, την ερωμένη, η οποία, ως αυτόνομη υποκειμενικότητα, είναι επίσης το υποκείμενο της άρνησης. Μετά την θανάτωση του Θεού και την εσωτερίκευση του Θανάτου, ο νεωτερικός ανεκπλήρωτος έρωτας εμφανίζεται ως η ετερονομία της σχέσης, η ετερονομία του Εγώ που προκύπτει ως αρνητικότητα της αυτονομίας του Άλλου.

We met Jacques Rancière on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the School of Fine Arts shortly before his speech at the B-Fest 6 International Anti-Authoritarian Festival, organized by Babylonia Journal, with a central slogan “We are ungovernable”. Rancière is among the most important European philosophers alive and his work does not need further introductions. In the cloudy morning of Sunday 28 May, we sat beneath the Acropolis to have a coffee with the philosopher. The transcript of our conversation reflects the vigor of thought and the passion of a truly democratic thinker.

Την 9η Μαρτίου του 1985 ο Paul Ricoeur (1913-2005) και ο Κορνήλιος Καστοριάδης (1922-1997) συναντήθηκαν στο στούντιο της ραδιοφωνικής εκπομπής «Le bon plaisir» της France Culture, την οποία παρουσίαζε ο πρώτος. Ο Ρικέρ βλέπει τον ανθρώπινο κόσμο, αν όχι ως πλήρως καθορισμένο, τουλάχιστον ως ετερο-καθορίσιμο, ερμηνευτή ενός νοήματος που προσφέρεται μεν από τη δομή του κόσμου, είναι δε ανοιχτό σε άπειρες διαφορετικές επανερμηνείες. Η ανθρώπινη χρονικότητα για τον Ρικέρ είναι αφηγηματική, γιατί και το φαντασιακό είναι, τελικά, ερμηνευτικό. Ο Καστοριάδης, από την άλλη, αμφισβήτησε την ερμηνευτική μέθοδο, υπογραμμίζοντας τα προτερήματά της μόνον όσον αφορά «μεμονωμένα έργα στο πλαίσιο μίας παράδοσης.» (Καστοριάδης, 2007: 86). Δεν θεωρεί, ωστόσο, ότι επαρκεί για να διαυγάσουμε το φαινόμενο της δημιουργίας, ούτε στην ευρύτερη οντολογία του Είναι-ως-Χρόνος, ούτε στην ανθρωπολογία του κοινωνικο-ιστορικού κόσμου. Αυτή η δημιουργία είναι δημιουργία απερίσταλτων, αυθαίρετων κοινωνικών φαντασιακών σημασιών, κοινωνιογένεση και ανθρωπογένεση. Ο Ρικέρ δεν ήθελε να δεχτεί μία τόσο ριζική άποψη ούτε του ανθρώπινου φαντασιακού, ούτε του περιβάλλοντος κόσμου. Ωστόσο, ο διάλογος μεταξύ Καστοριάδη και Ρικέρ κατά μία έννοια συνεχίζεται στις φιλοσοφικές αναζητήσεις του καιρού μας. Παρ’ όλες τις διαφωνίες τους, οι θεωρητικές συγκλίσεις των δύο στοχαστών στα θέματα του φαντασιακού και της χρονικότητας υπήρξαν σημαντικές και η προσωπική τους σχέση, μια σχέση, θα λέγαμε, αμοιβαίας αναγνώρισης.

We can locate the problematic of time within three philosophical questions, which respectively designate three central areas of philosophical reflection and contemplation. These are: 1) The ontological question, i.e. 'what is being?' 2) The epistemological question, i.e. 'what can we know with certainty?' 3) The existential question, i.e. 'what is the meaning of existence?' These three questions, which are philosophical, but also scientific and political, as they underline the political and moral question of truth and justice, arise from the phenomenon of time, the irreversible constant flow of phenomena that undermines every claim to absolute knowledge. The purpose of this essay is to illuminate the importance of time for philosophical thought and, more generally, for human social and psychical life, in the context of the ontology of Cornelius Castoriadis. Castoriadis, who asserted that " being is time – and not in the horizon of time " , correlated history to society and being to temporality within the social-historical stratum, the ontological plane created by human existence, where " existence is signification ". Time is interpreted as the creation and destruction of forms in a magmatic, layered with a non-regular stratification, reality, where the social-historical manifests as the creation of collective human activity, in the manner of social imaginary significations. This notion of temporality is accompanied by a profound criticism of traditional rationalistic philosophy, to which Castoriadis assigns the name 'ensemblistic/identitary', that highlights the necessity of a new, magmatic ontology, based on the primacy of time.

Cogitation described as calculation, the living being described as a machine, cognitive functions considered as algorithmic sequences and the ‘mechanization’ of the subjective were the theoretical elements that late heideggerian anti–humanism, especially in France was able to utilize[1], even more so, after the second cybernetics or post-cybernetics movement of the late ‘60s introduced the concepts of the autopoietic and the allopoietic automata[2]. Recently, neurologists pose claims on the traditional epistemological field of philosophy, proceeding from this ontological decision, the equation of human cognition to cybernetic systems. The emergence of the world-wide-web in the 1990s and the global expansion of the internet during the first decades of the 21st century indicate the fallacies of the cybernetics programme to mechanize the mind. We stand witnesses to a semantic colonization of the cybernetic system, a social imaginary creation and expansion within the digital ensemblistic – identitarian organization that cannot be described by mechanical or cybernetic terms. Paradoxically, cyberspace, as a new being, a form of alterity, seems to both exacerbate and capsize the polarization between the operational and the symbolic. The creation of the internet might be more than an epistemological revolution, to use the terminology of Thomas Kuhn. It might be an ontological revolution. I will try to demonstrate that the emergence of the Internet refutes any such claims, since its context and utility can only be described by means of a social epistemology based on the understanding of social significances as continuous creations of an anonymous social imaginary proposed by Cornelius Castoriadis (1922-1997). I will try to explore some social-semantic aspects of the cyberspace as a nexus of social representations of the individual identity that forms a new sphere of being, where the subjective and the objective merge in a virtual subjective objectivity with unique epistemological attributes and possibilities.

Everybody knows that Superman is Clark Kent. Nobody knows that Superman is Clark Kent. Located between these two absolute statements is the epistemological limit that separates the superhero fictitious universe from our universe of causal reality. The superheroic double identity is a secret shared by the superhero and the reader of the comic or the viewer of the movie, and quite often the superhero winks at the outside world, thus breaking the 4th wall and establishing this collusive relationship. However, in our hypothesis, we are interested in Superman not as a fictitious archetype, but rather as a fictitious metaphor. We are not interested in his double identity as the matrix of superheroic attributes and narratives, but rather as the differential limit between superhuman and human within the fictional universe. Because, the reader or the viewer may share the secret identity with Superman and also with Spiderman or Batman or any other superhuman, but the secret equivalence of Superman and Clark Kent contains another hidden antithesis
