To teach art well clearly requires considerable understanding of autonomy in art. Some theorists with autonomy in mind have argued that art must be without constraint. I challenge aspects of this view because it is unrepresentative of the art world, it is not necessarily good for art, it is an inadequate concept of autonomy in general, and it is very naïve about teaching responsibilities in art. The Princeton Theological Seminary Dead Sea Scrolls Project provides critical editions of the Dead Sea Scrolls which are not copies of books in the Hebrew Bible (the so-called "Old Testament"). The format of the series is unique; each manuscript is presented with Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek text on the left page with facing English translation on the right. The series intends to be a standard reference work. An introduction with selected bibliography precedes each document.Volume 8A brings together Dead Sea Scrolls that develop stories in Genesis along with other texts. The Genesis Apocryphon (1Q20, 3Q14 frg. 8) is a creative, interpretive, and theologically driven rewriting of a portion of Genesis. Several other documents provide traditions about Noah and his sons, including the Book of Noah, Admonitions Based on the Flood, and a composite text of the Birth of Noah manuscripts (4Q534-536). The collection also provides the manuscript witnesses to A Joseph Apocryphon found on Masada.

Totalitarianism theory was one of the ratifying principles of the Cold War, and remains an important component of contemporary political discourse. Its origins, however, are little understood. Although widely seen as a secular product of anticommunist socialism, it was originally a theological notion, rooted in the political theory of Catholic personalism. Specifically, totalitarianism theory was forged by Catholic intellectuals in the mid-1930s, responding to Carl Schmitt's turn to the in 1931. In this essay I explore the notion's formation and circulation through the Catholic public sphere in both France and Austria, where was born as a new form of the traditional Catholic animus against the nation state project.

For Abbey fans who assume that his "honest novel," _The Fool's Progress,_ was factual or that his public statements were entirely off the cuff, Cahalan's evenhanded treatment will be an eye-opener. Notingasurprising gap in the literature on Wittgenstein’s philosophy (p. 3), Potter sets out to treat Wittgenstein’s 1913 “Notes on Logic” (which consists of a succinct summary of the conclusions reached over this initial period) as an independent and primordial philosophical work. While it has been common for serious scholars of Wittgenstein’s Tractatus to “mine” (p. 1) his pre-Tractarian writings in search of “remarks to support their interpretations ” (p. 1) of that text, what sets Potter’s study of the “Notes” apart from previous attempts at exegesis is a methodological determination to approach the “Notes” as “if not quite … a terminus in Wittgenstein’s work then at least as worthy of study in their own right” (p. 1). An important advantage of this approach, according to Potter, is that it facilitates a clearer appreciation of Wittgenstein’s lasting insights “into the central themes of philosophical logic” (p. 262), many of which Wittgenstein himself had already grasped by 1913 and which survive subsequent rejection of some of the less plausible aspects of the Tractatus (such as logical atomism and the picture theory of propositions). By presenting these key insights as consequences of central, but only subsequently adopted, Tractarian doctrines such as the picture theory, however, traditional Wittgenstein scholarship has missed an opportunity, uniquely important in the case of his philosophy (p. 1), to elucidate them against the background of the actual historical landscape of problems, strategies, motivations, and inXuences, within the context in which they were originally formulated. According to Potter, then, looking at the “Notes” as a Wnished work in its own right, as opposed to a mere collection of preparatory notes, will help us to understand better both the more thorough reasoning Wittgenstein worked through in developing these various insights (subsequently either suppressed or highly compressed in the Wnal draft of the Tractatus itselfy), and just what further logical work that subsequently added elements, such as the picture theory, were supposed to contribute. Likewise, such an approach will help us to understand better the relevant inXuences upon Wittgenstein’s philosophical development, such as those, obviously and respectively, of Frege and Russell. Integral to distilling these various insights and inXuences from the “Notes”, according to Potter, is the process of “disentangling” (p. 3) various extant versions of the text from one another, the distinct versions themselves arising from the “rather complicated circumstances” (p. 3) in which the “Notesz” were composed. Following upon a lengthy explication of both the content and philosophical context of the “Notes”, Potter therefore attempts to “reconstruct the circumstances of composition of Wittgenstein’s Wrst surviving philosophical work” (p. 263). This research critically explores the intersection of feminist epistemology and women's representation in Assamese literature and cinema. Through a critical analysis of various literary works and cinematic representations, the paper seeks to understand how women's knowledge, experiences, and voices have been marginalized and silenced in Assamese society. By examining the contributions of prominent Assamese writers and filmmakers, this study highlights the evolving feminist consciousness in Assam and its impact on the representation of women. The findings suggest that while early narratives support patriarchal norms, contemporary works are reshaping perspectives, contributing to feminist discourse in Assam. By analyzing literary and cinematic trends, this study highlights the ongoing struggle for gender-equitable knowledge production and representation. The paper also discusses the role of feminist epistemology in challenging traditional knowledge systems and advocating for the recognition of women's experiences as legitimate sources of knowledge.
