Adrián Solís-Peña

I am currently a substitute professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Barcelona. My doctoral thesis explores the nature and existence of artefacts from a hylomorphic point of view. My areas of philosophical research focus on metaphysics and social metaphysics, but I am also particularly interested in discussions in philosophy of religion, philosophy of action, and philosophy of language.

My given name is Adrián, and my surnames are Solís and Peña. Some earlier publications may appear under one or the other surname. However, from now on I will publish under both surnames, as Adrián Solís-Peña. Please cite my work exactly as it appears in each publication; if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. For readers unfamiliar with naming traditions in Catalonia and in other iberian and hispanoamerican countries: individuals typically inherit the first surname of each parent. Solís comes from my father’s family and Peña from my mother’s. Due to patriarchal conventions, however, it is customary to identify oneself publicly using only the first surname. In an effort to counter the structural marginalisation of maternal surnames, I have chosen to publish under both.
