Adriano da Silva Carvalho

Adriano da Silva Carvalho is a Brazilian professor, researcher, and author. He taught philosophy and sociology at the secondary school level (Rede Cnec), and taught Greek, Hebrew, and research methodology at numerous seminaries and theological institutes in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His research focuses on linguistic-literary theories of textual meaning based on Michel Pêcheux, Roland Barthes, E. D. Hirsch, Algirdas J. Greimas, Friedrich D. E. Schleiermacher, and Hans-Georg Gadamer. He has published scholarly articles in academic journals in Brazil, the United States, Indonesia, and Colombia. He served as a reviewer in the field of Greimassian semiotics for Bloomsbury Publishing in London, which publishes the Harry Potter series and works by Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners. He is also a reviewer for the Forum for Linguistic Studies (FLS), an international, open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal based in Singapore that publishes research in general and applied linguistics, language teaching, and the philosophy of language. Carvalho has published 16 books in the fields of linguistics, philosophy, and theology in Portuguese and English.
