I work on foundational questions in philosophy of science, epistemology, and philosophy of mind, with a particular focus on the role of models, abstraction, and representation in scientific and philosophical explanation. My current work develops a model-based framework distinguishing physical systems, abstract structures, and representational models, and applies this framework to questions about the self, knowledge, agency, and normativity. My approach is realist about physical reality and abstract knowledge, while deflationary about metaphysical inflation, and is strongly informed by scientific practice, especially physics.
