Being aware of the scarcity of research in the fields of History and Philosophy of Science and the Philosophy of Chemistry for Chemistry Education, this endeavor aimed to discuss conceptions about the relevance of the dialectical unity between theoryand practicefor the development of Chemistry in the fields of Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Chemistry, from a Marxist perspective. To support this work, we focused on the understanding of practice in Vázquez's Philosophy and in the Philosophy of Chemistry, in summary: the understanding of this category as the concretization of human teleological activity in the material world, while in science it manifests in an interdependent way with theory, in a dialectical movement. In this way, a discussion was held based on the literature in Philosophy of Science that relates to this dialectical unity, criticizing discourses that prioritize theory in order to rethink the Philosophy of Science Curriculum for Chemistry Teaching Degrees and include the philosophical specificities of Chemistry in these courses. Finally, it is noted that the characteristics of Chemistry as a utilitarian science, its pragmatism, and its relational epistemology place it in a position as an ideal technoscientific knowledge to embody this dialectical unity between theory and practice in scientific practice.
