My research lies at the intersection of critical social theory, egalitarian political theory, and interpretive legal theory, exploring the descriptive and normative dimensions of religion, secularism, and secularisation, and the role of these phenomena in the constitution and contestation of modern and contemporary social orders.
Building on these foundations, my current research analyses social conflicts over religion and secularism as they unfold within political and legal institutions, with particular attention to the relationship between practices of narrative justification and public reason, processes of juridification and legal mobilisation, and the normative implications of these conflicts for democratic equality and political legitimacy in constitutional democracies.
