Alexander Gebharter

I am an associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Public Health at the Marche Polytechnic University (UNIVPM) and co-director of the Center for Philosophy, Science, and Policy (CPSP). I am principal investigator of the PRIN PNRR project Controlling and Utilizing Uncertainty in the Health Sciences (CUUHS), an interdisciplinary cooperation between researchers at UNIVPM and the University of Turin, and a member of the SNF and DFG funded research project Beyond Causal Exclusion: New Challenges for Multi-Level Causal Models. Before, I was principal investigator of the DFG funded research project Interventions and Mechanistic Hierarchies at the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy (MCMP) at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Groningen, and a research fellow at the Duesseldorf Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science (DCLPS) at the University of Duesseldorf.

I obtained my PhD from the University of Duesseldorf and my MA from the University of Salzburg. My research interests lie in philosophy of science and its intersection with epistemology, metaphysics, and philosophy of mind. I am especially interested in causation and related topics.
