What I offer here is a Whiteheadian vision of education and its metaphysical ground. An exploration of practical details is, for reasons that will become apparent, beyond the scope of this chapter. Two themes I take up are the vitalizing role of education in life and the importance of imagination and freedom in cultivating this vitality.
