Dr Alper Kumcu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Translation and Interpreting at Hacettepe University in Turkey. He completed an MA in the same department, researching eye movements during simultaneous interpreting with text. After receiving his MSc with distinction from the University of Birmingham's School of Psychology, he completed his PhD in the same department under the supervision of Dr Robin L. Thompson. His PhD thesis (Looking for Language in Space: Spatial Simulations in Memory for Language) investigated the role of space and spatial perception in verbal memory.
