My research focus is on the relation between AI and human well-being, applying my expertise in virtue ethics and embodied cognition to answer the question: “How, if at all, do we flourish with artificial intelligence?” My work is embedded at the School of Artifical Intelligence and the Donders Centre for Cognition, both at Radboud University Nijmegen. As lecturer, I teach courses on ethics and philosophy of science to students in AI. I am chair of the bachelor's Degree Programme Committee (DPC) of Artificial Intelligence at Radboud University.
My research agenda is emancipatory, with a special eye on those from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds, and makes a societal impact. I regularly give presentations to non-scientific audiences and collaborate with governmental, ngo, and healthcare partners. For example, I've advised national and local governments on the ethics of AI, was board member of the Filosofisch Café Nijmegen, contribute to NOLAI projects on AI at schools, and advise medical professionals on AI in healthcare (PersOn / ELSA).
