I am an adjunct lecturer at the philosophy department of the University of Florida. My research focuses on interdependencies between theories of the mind, theories of causation, and the philosophy of science, particularly with respect to the exclusion problem. However, my areas of competence are much broader and include applied ethics, free will, the philosophy of love and sex, as well as the humanities in general.

However, my areas of competence are much broader and include applied ethics, free will, the philosophy of love and sex, as well as the humanities in general.
I spent my undergraduate years at the Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, with philosophy as my major and historical ethnology and religious studies as my minors. There, I also gathered my first research and teaching experience as an assistant for Professor Wolfgang Detel and got hooked.
However, since an academic career is somewhat unpredictable, it seemed wise to have a plan B. As part of that, I earned an additional living as a freelancer in advertising, mainly for American military, expatriate, and diplomacy magazines. Once I graduated from the Goethe University, and before I moved to Florida for graduate school, I worked as a junior copywriter for the Küster advertising agency (now Kemper Kommunikation) on accounts for international companies such as Porsche.
In my free time, I compose orchestral as well as electronic music and enjoy long bike rides on trails.
