Astrid Zenkert

I studied art history, philosophy, and romance philology in Tübingen and Heidelberg. After several research stays in Paris and Venice I wrote my doctoral thesis on Tintoretto at the Scuola di San Rocco (“Tintoretto in der Scuola di San Rocco- Ensemble und Wirkung”). Now I am working on my second book about the gardens of the summer residence Schwetzingen. My main research interests are: the spatial and semantic structures of complex artistic ensembles in the field of mural painting and gardens; the interrelation of spatial and narratological structures; media-historical perspectives on garden art; the visual representation of political power in the early modern age and emblematics.
