I am an associate professor in the Department of Philosophy at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

My main areas of specialization are AI ethics, political philosophy, the philosophy of law, and Kant's practical philosophy.

I am engaged in two main research programs concerning 1) "rightful machines," which are highly autonomous AI machine agents that respect principles of justice and law, and 2) a "principle of veracity," which in certain conditions entails a rightfully enforceable duty of truthfulness when reporting expert knowledge such as scientific knowledge.
