I am a retired associate professor, having served the department of physics in a Kolkata college (India) for 36 years. I have had a fruitful teaching and research career, and have a good many publications in several areas of theoretical and mathematical physics in international peer-reviewed journals of repute. My current areas of interest in physics are Statistical Mechanics and quantum measurement theory, and I am currently engaged in writing a comprehensive reference book on Statistical Mechanics.
I have a long-standing interest in the philosophy of science and in cognitive aspects of the scientific method. In pursuing my interest in this area, I have been drawn to issues relating to inductive inference and free will and associated psychological issues. I am particularly interested in the psychological resources involved in inductive inference and the exercise of free will, with particular emphasis on those associated with the psychology of self.
